Apple's October 13 Smart Home Blitz: Meet the HomePad, HomePod mini 2, and Apple TV 4K
Mark your calendar: Tuesday, October 13 could be a big day for Apple fans. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman — the most reliable Apple reporter in the business — Apple is about to unveil not one, not two, but three new smart home products: an all-new smart home hub (nicknamed the "HomePad"), a second-generation HomePod mini, and a new Apple TV 4K. The common thread? A brand-new, much smarter Siri. Here is everything we know so far.
The HomePad: Apple's All-New Smart Home Hub
The star of the show is a brand-new product Apple has reportedly been working on for years. Think of it as mission control for your home — a small square display (around 6 to 7 inches) attached to a speaker base, with a design inspired by the classic iMac G4. It can sit on a tabletop stand or mount on your wall.
What will it actually do? It is expected to run an all-new operating system (possibly called homeOS) with clock faces and widgets, handle FaceTime calls, and control all your smart home gadgets from one screen. An A18 chip or newer means it can run Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI. There is even a visitor mode that keeps your private details safe when guests are around.
Apple is also reportedly working on a fancier version down the road — a 9-inch display mounted on a robotic arm that can swivel 360 degrees to follow you around the room. That one, however, is further out.

HomePod mini 2: Same Look, Smarter Brain
The HomePod mini is getting its first real update. From the outside, expect almost no change — the same compact, fabric-covered ball. All the upgrades are on the inside: a faster chip that finally supports Siri AI, improved sound quality, Apple's new N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip (the tech that makes handing music off between your iPhone and the speaker feel instant).

The fun part: new colors. Alongside the existing shades, Apple is reportedly adding pink and green options. If your living room needs a pop of color, this might be your moment.
Here is a strong sign the launch is imminent: leaked official Apple images of the new HomePod mini were already discovered inside Apple's own files by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris in late September.
Apple TV 4K (4th Gen): Power for the New Siri
The current Apple TV 4K is nearly four years old, and it is finally getting a refresh. Like the HomePod mini, the box itself will reportedly look identical — confirmed by an official Apple image of the "Apple TV 4K (4th generation)" that leaked from Apple's own files in September.

Inside, though, it is a different machine:
- A19 or A19 Pro chip — a huge leap from the current A15 Bionic
- 8GB to 12GB of RAM (up from 4GB) — needed for Apple Intelligence
- Apple's N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support — theoretically up to 4x faster than the current Wi-Fi 6, though real-world speeds still depend on your internet provider
- An updated Siri Remote
Why does all this power matter for a streaming box? Siri AI. Apple is expected to bring a Siri app to tvOS, turning the Apple TV into a genuinely smart assistant for your living room — one that can answer questions, control your home, and understand context far better than today's Siri.
Why the Wait — and Should You Buy?
Here is the interesting backstory: all three products were originally supposed to launch in 2024. They were delayed because Apple wanted the new Siri AI to be ready first. In other words, these are not just spec bumps — they are the first devices built from the ground up around Apple's new AI assistant.
Practical takeaways:
- Thinking of buying? Wait until October 13. Buying the current HomePod mini or Apple TV now means missing out on Siri AI.
- Already own them? Your current devices work fine — but they will not get the new Siri. Only the new hardware supports it.
- Full-size HomePod fans: no update in October, per Gurman — a new version is coming only "eventually."
- Coming later: Apple is also working on a privacy-focused home security camera that can detect which room a person is in without recording video.
One important note: Apple has not officially confirmed any of this — these are reports, not announcements. But with Gurman's track record and leaked Apple artwork already circulating, October 13 is looking very real. Stay tuned.
