Amazon Bee Frontier and Eclipse: AI That Remembers

TTTop Tech Today

What Are the Amazon Bee Frontier and Eclipse?

Amazon Bee Frontier and Eclipse are two new AI devices that listen to your day and turn conversations into summaries, to-dos, and reminders. Amazon unveiled them on October 15, 2026, at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco, where devices chief Panos Panay described a simple idea: stay present in the moment and let Bee remember the details for you.

Bee is the personal AI brand Amazon acquired last year. Its first device, Bee Pioneer, went beyond plain audio transcription and turned conversations into useful notes. Frontier and Eclipse expand that idea into two shapes: one you wear, and one that snaps onto your phone.

Both devices do the same core job. When switched on, they listen to your conversations, process what was said, and produce summaries, action items, and insights. If a friend mentions a dinner date, Bee can turn it into a calendar reminder. If a meeting ends with three promises, Bee can list them as to-dos.

Bee Frontier: The Wearable That Listens From Your Wrist

Bee Frontier is the next generation of Bee's wearable. You can wear it on your wrist like a bracelet, or clip it onto your clothing. It has a soft silicone band built for all-day comfort, and it comes in three colors: Onyx, Lavender, and Sage.

On the hardware side, Frontier is built for a full week of use:

  • Price: $74.99, available now at Amazon.com.
  • Battery: up to 7 days on a single charge, with USB-C charging.
  • Microphones: dual microphones with noise filtering.
  • Durability: IP67 water and dust resistance.
  • Controls: one button turns listening on and off, with a visible indicator light that shows when it is active.

Frontier is aimed at people who are always on the move: meetings, classes, coffee catch-ups, and errands.

Bee Eclipse: The Same AI, Attached to Your Phone

Bee Eclipse is for people who do not want another wearable. It is a slim device about the size of a credit card that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone.

  • Price: starting at $99.99, available soon.
  • Colors: Silver, Midnight, Honey, and Blush.
  • Battery: more than 21 days on a single charge.
  • Fit: magnetic attachment, compatible with MagSafe phones.
  • Controls: the same one-button on/off switch and indicator light as Frontier.

Eclipse works exactly like Frontier. Amazon's example is a family phone call about planning a vacation. Turn Eclipse on, and it can keep track of arrival times and restaurant picks, so nothing gets lost after you hang up. Amazon also says users are prompted to get permission from call participants each time a recording is started.

How Bee Turns Conversations Into Something Useful

Listening is only half the story. What makes Bee different from a voice recorder is what happens after the conversation ends. When Bee is on, it gathers context from your conversations and from the apps you connect.

You can read summaries in the Bee mobile app or a new desktop app, with templates for lectures, care plans, and brainstorming sessions. Over time, Bee spots recurring themes and suggests goals and actions.

Bee also connects to apps you already use:

  • Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook: after a call or meeting, Bee can surface action items, draft follow-up emails, or create calendar invites based on what was discussed.
  • Alexa+: ask Alexa for a hands-free meeting summary, check your to-dos, or pull up the name of a book a friend recommended.
  • Amazon.com: items you mention can surface as personalized shopping recommendations on the Amazon homepage and in the Bee apps.
  • Apple HealthKit and photos: add wellness context and a visual layer to daily memories.

Bee sits alongside devices such as Meta's Muse Charm pendant. See more AI news on this blog.

Bee Pro: What Is Free, and What Costs $11.99 a Month?

Every Bee device includes the basics at no extra cost: conversation summaries, recaps, and 14 days of memory. That is enough to test whether an always-listening assistant actually helps your daily routine.

The optional Bee Pro subscription costs $11.99 per month and adds:

  • Unlimited recent conversation summaries.
  • Integrations with Amazon.com and Alexa+.
  • Integrations with third-party apps.
  • Suggested to-dos and daily memories.
  • A personal chat assistant.
  • Conversation templates and the Bee desktop app.

All new Bee customers get 30 days of Bee Pro free. Tip: start with the free tier, and only pay for Pro once you know which features you actually use.

Privacy: What Bee Does With Your Conversations

An AI device that listens all day raises an obvious question: what happens to your audio? Amazon says privacy was part of Bee's design from the start, and it describes a system called Bee Private Compute. Here is how Amazon explains it:

  • No audio is ever stored. Audio is processed into insights in real time, then deleted.
  • Transcripts are encrypted with keys that only your device creates and controls. Amazon says no one else, including Amazon, can access your data unless you choose to share it.
  • You control when it listens. A single press turns the device on or off, and an LED light shows when it is active. You can also set Bee to switch off automatically after a period of silence, such as 5 or 15 minutes.
  • You can delete your data. Transcripts and summaries can be deleted at any time.

Two honest caveats apply. These are Amazon's claims, not independently audited in public. And a device that listens to you also picks up the people around you, who may not know they are being processed. Amazon faced criticism in 2019 after reports that people reviewed Alexa recordings, and it faces a related class-action lawsuit, which it denies.

Should You Buy a Bee Frontier or Eclipse?

Bee makes the most sense for people who lose details in a busy day: students in lectures, professionals in back-to-back meetings, caregivers tracking care plans, or anyone who makes plans on the phone and forgets them. If you already take notes by hand or with a phone app and it works, Bee may not change much for you.

  • Tell people it is listening. A quick "I have a note-taking device on" avoids awkward surprises.
  • Check your local recording laws. Rules about recording conversations vary by country and state. In some places, every person in a conversation must agree to be recorded.
  • Use the off button. Turn Bee off in sensitive settings such as medical appointments or legal discussions, unless everyone agrees.
  • Turn on auto-off. The silence-based auto-off setting stops Bee from listening to an empty room.
  • Review and delete regularly. Keep what is useful, and delete the rest.

The Bottom Line

Amazon Bee Frontier and Eclipse are Amazon's biggest bet yet on ambient AI: small, affordable devices that quietly remember your day. Frontier is available now for $74.99, and Eclipse follows soon at $99.99. The free tier makes it easy to try, but an always-listening device is also a trust decision. Read the privacy settings, tell the people around you, and make sure the convenience is worth the trade-off.
